Plug:Chain

The project develops a comprehensive solution for managing collective self-consumption from renewable energy systems in local energy communities.

Collective self-consumption is a model of energy production and consumption where a group of individuals or organizations collectively invest in renewable energy systems and virtually share the generated energy among themselves. Participating nodes in this collective model are located within 2 km of the installed generation system and can be energy consumers or producers, or both.

To keep users informed, Plug&Chain has developed a web application that allows them to simulate different nodes participating in collective self-consumption. The tool empowers users to visualize balances relating to consumption patterns, remaining surpluses, and prospective savings. Notably, it integrates a blockchain-based architecture to ensure the security and privacy of the stored data.

The end goal of this project is to drive the sector towards better integration and usage of renewable energies, matching renewable generation with demand.
